The Standard Residences, Phuket Bang Tao looks like a strong recommendation for a Hong Kong, British, French or Australian buyer who is prioritising pets, golf and an international lifestyle in a friendly and welcoming expat community.
The two qualifications are that it is not directly beachfront and it is still scheduled for completion in Q4 2026.

What it is - The Standard Bangtao
This is a branded residential development associated with The Standard rather than an operating Standard hotel. It comprises six seven-storey buildings with 188 residences, ranging from 75 m² one-bedrooms to very large three-bedroom and duplex units. Facilities include a 25-metre saltwater pool, fitness centre, spa rooms, pickleball court, cinema, tropical lagoon, concierge and neighbourhood buggy/shuttle service. Official project website
The wider mixed-use site will also contain The Peri Hotel and a Standard-operated food-and-beverage concept. The project’s official August 2026 update shows construction well advanced but not yet complete. CBRE Thailand
Pet suitability
The project is consistently marketed as pet-friendly.
Current project information lists all kinds of pets as permitted.
Landscaped communal areas are included, and certain three-bedroom residences are specifically advertised with garden access.
Bang Tao has numerous pet-friendly cafés, accommodation options and outdoor venues.

However, I would not promise “unrestricted pet ownership” to the client yet. The main project website does not publish detailed pet regulations, while third-party project information says all pets are accepted. Before reservation, obtain written confirmation covering:
Is the area good for walking a dog?
Good by Phuket standards, but not absolutely perfect directly outside the gate.
The positives:
Bang Tao Beach is approximately 1–1.3 km away depending on the route.
It is a long, wide beach and is commonly used for leashed dog walking, particularly in the early morning and evening. Phuket.net’s pet-friendly Phuket guide
Porto de Phuket is approximately 700 metres away and regularly welcomes pets and hosts pet-focused events. Porto de Phuket
The Laguna precinct has attractive lakes, resort landscaping and quieter internal roads, although access to individual resort paths with a dog should be checked.
The development’s shuttle should make beach access considerably easier.
The limitation is that the immediate Boat Avenue area is a lively commercial district. Traffic can be regular, pavements are inconsistent in places, and it is not comparable to a European neighbourhood with continuous shaded footpaths. There can also be free-roaming local dogs around Phuket beaches. I would recommend keeping the client’s dog leashed and using the beach at sunrise or late afternoon rather than attempting long midday walks.
Golf access - the big Benefits!
Golf course Approximate access
Laguna Golf Phuket Around 2 km; approximately 5–10 minutes
Blue Canyon Country Club Approximately 25–35 minutes
Red Mountain Golf Club Approximately 30–40 minutes
Loch Palm Golf Club Approximately 30–40 minutes
Laguna Golf is the major advantage: it is effectively the client’s local course. CBRE specifically lists Laguna Golf Club among the development’s immediate surrounding amenities. Blue Canyon provides two prestigious courses near the airport, while Red Mountain is often considered Phuket’s most dramatic course but involves a longer drive into Kathu.

How we would position it ...
I would describe Bang Tao as Phuket’s most complete upscale lifestyle neighbourhood: international restaurants, Boat Avenue, Porto de Phuket, supermarkets, beach clubs, golf and a large expat community, with relatively convenient airport access. It is sophisticated and sociable rather than secluded.
A very strong candidate for a pet-owning Hong Kong-located or European buyer who wants modern branded living, convenient dining and nearby golf. The main compromise is that daily dog walking requires crossing or bypassing the busy Boat Avenue environment to reach the beach or quieter Laguna surroundings, but it's nice when you get there! There is also a fanatastic mall adjoining, and the community has more expat faces than even local Thai ones, so it is very much an expat enclave.
If budget allows, a ground-floor or garden-access unit would be considerably more attractive for the dog than a standard upper-floor one-bedroom.
Note: There is only 400m2 of available foreigner allocation left, and we have only one remaining property available (120m 2-bed)
